Guest Guide
Everything you need to know for your trip to Lahore
Prior to Your Arrival
Visa
To download your visa, go to visa.nadra.gov.pk, click "Granted", then "Download" to get the PDF. Print a physical copy and keep it with your passport. Your airline will check for it before boarding, and immigration at Lahore airport will ask to see it. Have a digital copy on your phone as backup too.
eSIM
We recommend purchasing a Pakistan eSIM before you depart. It's the easiest way to have data the moment you land — essential for maps, WhatsApp, and getting around. A few good options:
- Saily — affordable, great for multi-country travel
- Holafly — unlimited data plans, 24/7 support
- Airalo — flexible data plans from 1GB to 50GB
How to set up your eSIM
- Purchase an eSIM for Pakistan from any of the providers above
- Check that your device is compatible (most newer iPhones, Androids, and iPads)
- Scan the QR code they send you:
- iPhone: Settings > Cellular > Add Cellular Plan > Scan QR
- Android: Settings > Connections > SIM card manager > Add mobile plan > Scan QR
- Set it as your data plan (keep your regular SIM for calls)
Airport Pickup
Nooroo's family will arrange pickup from LHE airport for you. We will reach out to each of you directly prior to your arrival with more details and contact information.
Hotel
Pearl Continental (P.C.) Hotel Lahore
Rooms have already been blocked at the P.C. Hotel. You should have received a confirmation email with your dates. You will be charged at the property with a credit card on arrival. There is a pool, gym, spa, and multiple restaurants on-site. There is a bar that foreigners can be served alcohol in.
Cornell Friends
For Cornell friends, you'll be staying at an Airbnb near Nooroo's house. We'll be in touch with you directly with details.
Packing & Weather
Weather
Late March in Lahore is warm — expect 75-90°F (24-32°C) during the day, cooling to 60°F (15°C) at night. Light layers are ideal.
Attire — Men
We have gotten outfits for you for the Mayun, Nikkah, and Mehndi. You will need to bring:
- White undershirts to wear under your outfits
- Dress shoes for the events
- A suit for the Reception
- Normal clothes for the rest of the week — no dress code for the Party & Dinner
Attire — Women
We have gotten outfits for you for the Mayun as a gift. You will need to bring clothes for the other events:
- Nikkah: White only
- Mehndi: Any color — vibrant, colorful outfits are common
- Reception: Western dresses or Pakistani outfits
- Party & Dinner: No dress code — wear whatever you feel comfortable in
Essentials
- Passport + visa printout — keep physical copies with you at all times
- Medications — bring whatever you need, plus extra just in case
- Mosquito repellent — essential, Lahore has mosquitoes year-round
- Malaria medication — talk to your doctor about a prescription before you go
- Power adapter — Type C/D, 220V. Bring one if you have it, otherwise the hotel can provide. Note: Pakistan runs on 220V — most phone chargers and laptops handle this fine, but hair dryers, straighteners, and tools like Dysons may not work unless they're dual-voltage. Bring a standard travel hair dryer/straightener if you need one
- Cash in PKR — credit cards work at most hotels and restaurants, but you can bring cash for local shops and tipping. Coordinate with your bank to obtain Rupees before your trip, or consider a multi-currency card like Wise or Revolut. Also check your credit card's international transaction fees beforehand to avoid surprises
While You're Here
Getting Around
Transport has been arranged to get everyone back and forth from all of the events.
Food & Water
Lahore has incredible food. Just keep a few things in mind:
- Drink bottled water only — it's cheap and available everywhere
- Stick to cooked food
- Avoid uncooked foods like salads, yogurts, sauces, ice, and anything that may have come in contact with unfiltered water
- Avoid street food
As long as you follow these, you'll be totally fine.
Key Contacts
Save these numbers — all reachable via WhatsApp. If you don't have WhatsApp, download it before your trip — it's the primary way everyone communicates in Pakistan.
